PARISH MASS COUNT we will have the first of our annual Mass counts next weekend. There will be four counts in total over consecutive weekends.
‘OPEN HOUSE’ Fr Joseph is proposing to hold an ‘Open House’ for Parishioners to come along and discuss any issues relating to personal, family or parish life i.e. Baptisms, Weddings, Parish matters. These will be held on Monday evenings between 4.00pm and 7.00pm in the Sacristy at Our Lady of Peace. The first of these meetings will be held on Monday, 21st October.
14TH – 15TH SEPTEMBER THIS WEEKEND IS HOME MISSION SUNDAY Today we celebrate Home Mission Sunday. We are invited to find ourselves in the Gospel story as we accompany the characters who call out, ‘Rejoice with me!’ These words express the joy of finding something, or someone they had lost. Imagine the joy in your own heart when you see someone you love coming home to Church, because they are seeking, or have found Christ.
Occasionally this happens by direct divine intervention, but more often we are called to be the face of Christ, praying for, inviting and welcoming those we love into a relationship with Him. Thankfully we are not alone in this task. The Home Mission Office is a national organisation that helps the local Church engage in the vital mission of Evangelisation.
This weekend, they ask for our prayers and our financial support through the retiring collection. Our prayers help them to be attentive to the Holy Spirit who directs their work, and our donations to the retiring collection will enable them to help the local Church share the joy of the Gospel throughout England and Wales. In short, the retiring collection helps them to help us. For more information about the Home Mission Office or to donate online please visit www.homemission.org.uk
REV JANET MINKKINEN Congratulations to Rev Janet who has been appointed as the new Vicar at St Peter’s Church in Burnham, her last service in St Andrew’s will be on Sunday, 22nd September at 9.30am. Rev Janet’s Licensing will be in St Peter’s on Wednesday, 16th October at 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend.
THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, until the feast of St Francis on 4th October, is celebrated by many Christian denominations as the Season of Creation. It used to be one day but because of climate change it is now a whole month. Pope Francis asks us during this time to do what we can to reduce our impact on the environment. He asks us to consider what we eat, what we buy, how we travel, together with our use of water and fossil fuels. Let us do whatever we can to rescue our planet from the effects of some of the many choices we make.
EXTRAORDINARY MISSIONARY MONTH The Church has designated October 2019 an Extraordinary Missionary Month. It challenges us to fully embrace our call to mission in our daily lives among family, friends, and community, while embodying the theme “Baptized and Sent: The Church of Christ on a mission in the world.”
In order to provide us with an inviting and practical pastoral tool, the Pontifical Mission Societies have asked Magnificat worldwide to prepare a special October 2019 issue to help the faithful receive the many graces flowing from this Extraordinary Missionary Month. In addition to the regular features, daily Mass and Prayer for the Morning and Evening inspired by the Church’s Liturgy of the Hours, each day of this special issue will include a mission-themed meditation, a profile of a missionary saint, and a prayer intention for the mission.
The October issue of Magnificat is a perfect way to engage the faithful in prayer day after day. To help equip our parish to become a thriving missionary community filled with “missionary disciples”, we have obtained copies which will be available over the next couple of weeks, priced £4.99.
MANY THANKS to the team who provide the tea/coffee after 9.45am Mass each Sunday for their generous donation of £250. “Thank You” to all who support them each week.
DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET is prayed each Sunday after 11.30 am Mass in St Andrew’s for Priests.

“Lord God, you are our eternal shepherd and guide. In your mercy grant your Church of Northampton a shepherd who will walk in your ways and whose watchful care will bring us your blessing. Lord, bless us with the fullness of your love. Give us the joy of having a shepherd to lead your Church of Northampton who will be pleasing and acceptable to you. Lord, in your love for us, give us the joy of receiving a shepherd who will be an example of goodness to your people and will fill our hearts and minds with the truth of the gospel.

The used stamps are sold on to Dealers and Collectors, and the proceeds used to assist in funding Church projects abroad. This can be done here in this Parish by as many people as possible depositing as many stamps as is possible in the Stamps for the Missions box in the Church porch.
