WE WELCOME Fr Joseph Udoh joins us as our new Parish Priest from this weekend. Please keep Fr Joseph in your Prayers as he settles in to life in Our Lady of Peace Parish.
GRATEFUL THANKS Fr Andy and Fr Emmanuel would like to say a huge “thank you” to everyone for all your farewell cards, gifts, messages and wishes, and for such a wonderful and moving farewell party at St Andrew’s! We both felt very blessed, loved and supported as we move on to pastures new, but sad also to be leaving such a wonderful parish. Please be assured of our prayers and please also keep us in prayer during this time of transition. God bless you all!
DECEASED Hazel Mitchell RIP who was one of the original Anglican CSCT Trustees died recently, her Funeral will be in St Andrew’s on Thursday, 12th September at 12.30pm May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen.
CONGRATULATIONS to Alice Divinyecz, who will be Baptised in Our Lady of Peace on Saturday, 14th September. Please pray for her parents, Grandparents and Godparents.
14TH – 15TH SEPTEMBER: NEXT WEEKEND IS HOME MISSION SUNDAY The Home Mission Office exists to help the Church throughout England and Wales to share the joy of the Gospel. It can seem daunting to share such a personal part of our lives as our faith in Jesus Christ. However, we can pray that the people we carry in our hearts will encounter him for themselves.
Prayer cards and prayer maps for families can be ordered from www.homemission.org.uk. If you would like to pray for the spread of the Good News on a regular basis, please sign up to their newsletter via their website.
Please consider contributing to the retiring collection next weekend. The money received from this collection ensures that the Catholic Faith Centre is resourced and is able to respond to those who have questions about the Catholic Faith. It is also possible to donate online at: www.catholicnews.org.uk/Home/Donate
THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, until the feast of St Francis on 4th October, is celebrated by many Christian denominations as the Season of Creation. It used to be one day but because of effects of climate change it is now a whole month. Pope Francis asks us during this time to do what we can to reduce our impact on the environment. He asks us to consider what we eat, what we buy, how we travel, together with our use of water and fossil fuels. Let us do whatever we can to rescue our planet from the effects of some of the many choices we make.
EXTRAORDINARY MISSIONARY MONTH The Church has designated October 2019 an Extraordinary Missionary Month. It challenges us to fully embrace our call to mission in our daily lives among family, friends, and community, while embodying the theme “Baptized and Sent: The Church of Christ on a mission in the world.”
In order to provide us with an inviting and practical pastoral tool, the Pontifical Mission Societies have asked Magnificat worldwide to prepare a special October 2019 issue to help the faithful receive the many graces flowing from this Extraordinary Missionary Month. In addition to the regular features, daily Mass and Prayer for the Morning and Evening inspired by the Church’s Liturgy of the Hours, each day of this special issue will include a mission-themed meditation, a profile of a missionary saint, and a prayer intention for the mission.
The October issue of Magnificat is a perfect way to engage the faithful in prayer day after day. To help equip our parish to become a thriving missionary community filled with “missionary disciples”, we have obtained copies which will be available over the next couple of weeks, priced £4.99.
MANY THANKS to the team who provide the tea/coffee after 9.45am Mass each Sunday for their generous donation of £250. “Thank You” to all who support them each week.
DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET is prayed each Sunday after 11.30 am Mass in St Andrew’s for Priests.
PRAYING WITH BISHOP PETER for the election of our new Bishop. Bishop Peter, having offered his resignation as our Bishop to the Holy Father, asks you to pray with him for God’s Spirit to guide the election of a new Bishop for our Diocese. Prayer cards are available in the Church porches.
“Lord God, you are our eternal shepherd and guide. In your mercy grant your Church of Northampton a shepherd who will walk in your ways and whose watchful care will bring us your blessing. Lord, bless us with the fullness of your love. Give us the joy of having a shepherd to lead your Church of Northampton who will be pleasing and acceptable to you. Lord, in your love for us, give us the joy of receiving a shepherd who will be an example of goodness to your people and will fill our hearts and minds with the truth of the gospel.
