1st Reading: Deut. 26:4-10 ‘The confession of faith of the chosen people.’
Psalm 91(90) R/ Be with me, O Lord, in my distress.
2nd Reading: Rom 10:8-13 ‘The confession of faith of believers in Christ.’
Gospel Acclamation: Glory and praise to you, O Christ. One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. Glory and praise to you, O Christ.
Gospel: Luke 4:1-13 ‘Jesus was led by the Spirit in the wilderness and tempted by the devil.’
CREDO: I believe in God, the Father almighty Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Mission Week
MISSION WEEK AT OUR LADY OF PEACE & ST ANDREW’S
HAPPENING THIS MONDAY – SUNDAY
Each Day the Church will be open for prayer. Each day from 6pm to 7pm there will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This is an opportunity to come and pray together, spending time praying for the Mission week and for all the people who live in the geographical area of the parish, that they may come to know God’s love for them.
Mission Week Events: All welcome!
Jesus Our Hope – A Jubilee Evening Led by Mission Northampton: Monday 10th March 2025, 7.00 – 9.00pm at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Pope Francis invites us to look to the future with hope. Join Mission Northampton for a Jubilee inspired evening, which will include music, creative ways to pray, and a talk by our guest speaker Fr. Simon Penhalagan. We invite you to come and deepen your relationship with Jesus during this evening. The evening will be gentle and welcoming, so feel free to invite a friend!
‘I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them; I ask all of you to do this unfailingly each day. No one should think that this invitation is not meant for him or her, since “no one is excluded from the joy brought by the Lord.” The Lord does not disappoint those who take this risk; whenever we take a step towards Jesus, we come to realize that he is already there, waiting for us with open arms.’ (The Joy of the Gospel, 3)
Tuesday 11th March: Training for outreach into the wider community, 7 – 9pm at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Our Parishes are called to be places of welcome and service within the local community. Come for an evening to explore how we can reach out with God’s love beyond the walls of the Church. The evening will include some very practical training by Mission Northampton to equip you to do this.
Sunday 16th March – Light Fever at St. Andrew’s, 1pm to 4pm: An experience of going out and inviting people back to the Church to light a candle and pray. This is an effective and simple way to share the love of God with others during this Mission Week. There are lots of jobs that need doing, including making tea and coffee, music & intercession, as well as people going out to invite others in, so there is something for everyone!
Monday 17th March: Mission Day in Our Lady of Peace Primary School led by the Sion Community: A day in which the children in the school can come to know more deeply that they are loved by God.
Parish Notices
A WARM WELCOME TO FR. AMALRAJ LAWRENCE, SMA Fr. Amalraj has this to say about himself:
It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you. I am Amalraj Lawrence (known as ‘AMAL’ in short) and was born on May 31,1984, in a small village in Tamil Nadu, India. We are three in the family. My sister is the elder one and I am the middle one and my brother is the last son. My parents are alive and kicking.
My vocation story started when I was an altar server, attending church regularly, listening to the Word of God, and serving the priests at Mass. Never did I imagine that one day I would become a missionary priest, leaving my family and homeland to spread the Gospel in different parts of the world. However, when the Lord called me, discerning my vocation, I joined the Society of African Missions (SMA) Congregation in the year 2000. After Completing my preparatory, philosophical, and college studies in India, I was sent to the Philippines for my spiritual year for a year and the time was spent discerning my vocation in prayer and reflection. It was my first experience in Africa when I went to Kenya for my Pastoral work in 2009 and then studied my theology course in Nairobi, Kenya from 2010 to 2014. I was ordained on May 23, 2014 in my hometown, India.
My missionary journey began when I was sent back to Kenya, where I spent a couple of years in studies. I served two parishes in Kenya from 2015 to 2023. It was a truly wonderful experience with simple people who were strong in faith. In 2024, I arrived in the UK, my first time in Europe. I stayed in Northwood the whole of last year helping mission appeals for the SMA. Considering the request by the Provincial Superior, I agreed to move to the Parish of Our Lady of Peace, Burnham. Here am I to do God’s work as a humble servant in your midst. I am delighted to be here and ready to serve you. Let us be united and support each other. I would like to request you to pray for me as I serve you. May God help us in our work.
Let us warmly welcome Fr. Amal and keep him in our prayers as we continue to grow
together in faith and love.

Jubliee 2025 | Pilgrims of Hope

THE JUBILEE YEAR OF HOPE 2025 “Jubilee” is the name given to a particular year. A time to re-establish a proper relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation. The Jubilee Year 2025 officially began on December 8, 2024, when Pope Francis opened the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica.
This sacred year of Hope invites us all to renew our faith and deepen our commitment to God. We encourage parishioners to take full advantage of this special year, which offers Catholics the possibility of obtaining a plenary indulgence through prayer, pilgrimages, reflection, and acts of service. Resources to support our journey, including daily prayer guides and reflections, are available online:
CAFOD You can Join CAFOD’s “Make a Jubilee pledge”, to recommit to our global family this Jubilee year by pledging a transformative monthly gift, and you’ll receive their weekly gospel reflections by email. These weekly email reflections include reflections on the Sunday gospel, and ways in which you and the wider CAFOD family can give, act and pray during the Jubilee Year. http://www.cafod.org.uk/pray/jubilee-2025

CONFIRMING OUR PARISH NAME In discussion with Bishop David recently, it has been decided to firm up the name of our combined Parish by combining the two names together in a new logo. Going forward we are ‘Our Lady of Peace and St Andrew’s’. The Bishop is happy with this slight amendment as it helps in some way for people to understand that we are truly one Parish and not two separate entities. You will see the new logo appearing across the Parish in future.
