Sunday Mass Readings
1st Reading: 1 Kings 17:10-16 The widow made a little some from her meal and brought it to Elijah.
Psalm 145 R/ My soul, give praise to the Lord.
2nd Reading: Heb 9:24-28 Christ offers himself only once to take the faults of many on himself.
Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia 2x! Even if you have to die, says the Lord, keep faithful, and I will give you the crown of life. Alleluia!
Gospel: Mk 12:38-44 This poor widow has put in more than all.
CREDO: I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

OLOP RECONSECRATION MASS We are pleased to inform and invite all parishioners to the Mass of Reconsecration for the refurbished Altar and Church of Our Lady of Peace, presided by Bishop David. During the Mass, our new Ambo will be blessed, as well as the newly acquired Lectionaries. This Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday 11th December at 7.00pm. It will be a fantastic opportunity for our parishioners to meet with former priests who have served this community, including Mgr. Sean Healy, Fr. Andy Richardson, Fr. Joseph Udoh, Canon Kevin O’Driscoll and others. Please mark the date in your calendar and we look forward to seeing you at the Mass.
BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE Will be kept in Our Lady’s Chapel throughout the month of November. Please do not write any names in the book.
NOVEMBER – MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS The Holy Souls’ Mass envelopes are available and can be found in the Church porches. Please include the names of your deceased family members and friends along with your offerings in the envelope. The envelopes can be placed in the Holy Souls’ Box in front of the Altar. Your dear ones will be remembered at all the Masses for the Holy Souls offered during November. Masses will be said in memory of those whose names are inscribed on the pews and chairs.
OFFERTORY COLLECTION Loose Collection: £799.46, DONA Plate: £356.20, Sunday Tea & Coffee: £55, Wednesday Tea & Coffee: £23.
EUCHARISTIC HOLY HOUR FOR LIFE During the Plenary Assembly of the Bishops of England and Wales, there will be a Eucharistic Holy Hour to pray and intercede that the dignity of the human person and the culture of life be upheld in the face of the assisted suicide legislation being brought before the UK Parliament. The Bishops conference begins each morning with Eucharistic Adoration but this additional dedicated Hour of prayer will take place at 5.30pm on Wednesday 13th November.
Cardinal Nichols and the Bishops are inviting dioceses and parishes to be united with them in this powerful player of intercession on the same evening of Wednesday, 13th November. Bishop David has asked all parishes to hold a period of Eucharistic Adoration across the diocese at the said date and time. Hence, here in Our Lady of Peace Church, there will be a Holy Hour Adoration for Life on Wednesday, November 13th, at 5.30 pm. We invite all who can to make time to attend and unite in prayer, seeking guidance and strength in our commitment to uphold the dignity of every human life.
A DAY OF TRAINING FOR CHURCH READERS 10.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday 14th December. Representatives from the diocesan Liturgy Commission will visit our parish to provide training for all those who read at the Altar during Mass. It is mandatory training for all readers in our Parish prior to the introduction of a new lectionary translation for Mass, as well as a refresher on best practices in the ministry of lectors and parish readers. We invite all readers to attend and welcome anyone who wants to join our team of readers. Please confirm your attendance by emailing the Parish Secretary at office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org or speak with Ms. Denise McClintock.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT Winter’s melody a symphony of voices, night with music at Our Lady of Peace Church – Annual Christmas Concert will be taking place at the church on Sunday 1st December at 6.00pm. Tickets are on sale now after Masses, price £10 each, children under 16 years free.
MASS INTENTIONS If you wish to book a Mass Intention please place the intention in an envelope, write the name of the person(s) who the Mass is for, whether Deceased or Intention, also the name of the person who is offering the Mass. This will avoid any disappointment for the Mass intentions not being offered on the requested date(s).
NEW LECTIONARY FOR MASS
What is being talked about?
A new edition of the Lectionary, the book which contains the readings which are proclaimed at Mass, will come into use in England and Wales in Advent 2024. The new edition uses the English Standard Version-Catholic Edition for the readings and the Abbey Psalms and Canticles for the Responsorial Psalms.
Are there changes to the readings?
This is a new publication of the Lectionary using different scripture translations – the content remains the same. So, the readings for each Sunday will be the same.
What is new?
There will be provision for Saints who have been added to the Universal Calendar since the last Lectionary published in 1981. There will also be the readings for the National Calendars. In addition, some of the revised liturgical rites, such as Marriage, have additional readings.
Will the text be mandatory?
It is normal practice in the Roman Rite that there is only a single edition of a liturgical text in use in a particular territory. So in the same way as only the third edition of the Roman Missal (2010) may be used in the celebration of Mass (in the Ordinary Form); the same will be true for the Lectionary.
Who will be publishing the Lectionary?
The Catholic Truth Society have been appointed publishers for the Lectionary. They are working closely with the bishops to ensure that the published volumes are worthy, clear in page layout, sturdy and reflect the daily needs of the liturgy.
When will be the Lectionary published?
The bishops of England and Wales completed their approval of the Lectionary text and it was then submitted to the Holy See to be reviewed. The Lectionary will be published in good time for its first use in Advent 2024.
UNIVERSALIS APP Due to the large sums invested in the refurbishment of Our Lady of Peace, it will be some time before the parish is able to generate the much-needed finances to purchase new Mass books for our Sunday Masses. As a result, we recommend the Universalis App to our parishioners who want to access the latest lectionary translations for personal prayers or to actively participate in Mass. Universalis is a software application that includes all liturgical prayers, lection and spiritual readings used during our liturgical celebrations. It requires a one-time subscription of £10 and allows you to access all of the prayers and Scripture readings on your mobile device. Those who require assistance should kindly contact the parish secretary for help. https://universalis.com/

CONFIRMING OUR PARISH NAME In discussion with Bishop David recently, it has been decided to firm up the name of our combined Parish by combining the two names together in a new logo. Going forward we are ‘Our Lady of Peace and St Andrew’s’. The Bishop is happy with this slight amendment as it helps in some way for people to understand that we are truly one Parish and not two separate entities. You will see the new logo appearing across the Parish in future.
