MASS CHANGE No Mass on Saturday mornings until resumption of Masses in Our Lady of Peace Church.
DECEASED Please pray for the repose of the soul of Priscilla Taylor (Cilla) RIP who died recently, her Requiem Mass will be in St Andrew’s Church on Tuesday 30th July at 1.00pm followed in Slough Crematorium.
Peter Hill RIP A former parishioner, Peter Hill (son of Carmel) died recently in Ireland leaving a wife and two young sons. Mass will be offered for him on Sunday 4th August at 6.00pm in St Andrew’s. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen.
MESSAGE FROM CAFOD We are saddened to hear about the passing of one of its long standing CAFOD volunteers – Cilla Taylor. Cilla was a steadfast voice supporting the parish in its global outreach mission though CAFOD and promoting CAFOD’s work through the Slough Justice and Peace Group. Mike, her husband, has been alongside Cilla every step of the way and we send him heartfelt condolences. The CAFOD family will always remember Cilla for her steadfast love and commitment. We hold her and Mike in prayer and give thanks to God for all she did to bring about a better, fairer world.
TRANSPORT TO CHURCH Should anyone require a lift for any of our weekend masses at St Andrew’s kindly speak to Venecia (Parish Secretary), or send an email to office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org to have this arranged.
OFFERTORY The collection for 21st July amounted to £508.38. The DONA plate offerings amounted to £44.07 for this weekend. We are very grateful for your continued support.
RETIRING COLLECTION FOR NEW LECTIONARY As you may be aware, we are expecting the introduction of a new Lectionary for our Liturgical celebrations this autumn on the first Sunday of Advent 2024. This means we’ll have to buy new liturgical books because we won’t be able to keep our existing Lectionaries. Because of the high cost of these books and the pressure on our Parish Finances caused by the church refurbishment works, there will be a retiring collection for the New Lectionary this weekend, July 27th and 28th, at the end of all Masses
ANNUAL PARISH TEA PARTY The parish of Our Lady of Peace and St Andrew’s will be hosting an Afternoon Tea Party on Saturday 14th September to raise funds for our church. This event was a great success last year so please save this date in your diaries. Tickets will be on sale soon.
SAFEGUARDING TRAINING (N.B. change of venue) All Parish volunteers, holding a DBS certificate, are required by the diocese undergo a mandatory online Safeguarding Training course. This training can be undertaken individually or as part of a group session at OLOP church. For further details and to sign up for the training, please reach out to Mairin Comfort in person or at the following email: safeguarding.olop[AT]northamptondiocese.org. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of our Parish community. Group Safeguarding training will be held in St Andrew’s on 3rd August at 2.00pm – 3.30pm.
LIVE STREAMING Please note that due to the ongoing refurbishment works in OLOP there will be no live streaming for Sunday Masses, Funerals and Baptisms. St Andrew’s shared Church where we are celebrating all our Masses and Sacraments does not have this facility in place. Any inconvenience caused is regretted.
POPE’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR JULY For The Pastoral Care of The Sick – We pray that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is conferred to those who receive it and their loved ones the power of the Lord and become ever more a visible sign of compassion and hope for all.
SPONSOR A PEW OR CHAIR DEDICATED TO YOUR FAMILY OR LOVED ONE Many thanks to our parishioners, especially those who have already contributed to the purchase of new pews and chairs. Your help is highly appreciated, and your contribution will be preserved in our church as a legacy for future generations. Thanks to your assistance, we now have 7 chairs remaining to complete the required furnishing for our Parish Church.
We ask everyone who has already purchased pews or chairs to email Venecia, our Parish Secretary [office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org], and provide the names of the people in whose honour they will be dedicated. We would also like to encourage anyone who still wants to buy a chair to contact the parish secretary first before depositing any money into the parish account for this purpose. The chairs are rapidly selling out, and we would like to ensure that we still have a chair remaining before you make a payment.

ORGANISING ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS ACROSS THE PARISH For anyone organising activities and events in OLP or St Andrew’s, please contact the Parish Office and advise Venecia so she can ensure that the diary is always current and check for clashes of venue or dates.
IMPORTING LITERATURE TO CHURCH It is possible that some of our parishioners will visit other thriving churches and prayer groups who provide ‘great articles’ or amazing programs that they believe are suitable for distribution. In the Roman Catholic Church it is the norm that any such ‘wonderful’ leaflets, newsletters, tracts, and religious objects be shown to the priest in charge of the Church before they are left on the church premises. Recently, we have noticed with concern the importation of upsetting religious literature and objects that are left in the narthexes of our churches. We wish to bring to the attention of all that if anyone should come across something of ‘high religious significance’, it must be shown to the priest before being left at the entrance of our Churches. Any such advertisements displayed on our notice boards, as well as religious objects and documentation left at the entrance of our churches, will be retrieved and destroyed.
FAMILIES NEEDING HELP If anyone is aware of people who require assistance/help, please provide names and contact information to the parish office.
SLOUGH FOODBANK For details on how to donate see https://slough.foodbank.org.uk/give-help-2/donate-food/ or please view the poster on the parish noticeboard.
SAFEGUARDING Please remember that Bishop David is available to meet with anyone affected by abuse in our Church. To make an appointment (at short or long notice) please contact our diocesan safeguarding office.
SAFEGUARDING DBS CHECKS If you have any DBS forms that need to be checked and validated, please contact Máirín Comfort. She can be reached via email at safeguarding.olop[AT]northamptondiocese.org, or at OLOP church after the 9.30am Mass. Kindly get in touch with her to arrange a suitable time for form validation. Thank you for your cooperation.
WYCOMBE HOMELESS PROJECT Please see poster on parish noticeboard of this local charity supported by the Knights of St Columba who are raising funds to help homeless people in South Bucks who need emergency accommodation and specialist support to avoid illegal and unfair eviction, also access to health services and much more. OUR PARISH LIST OF THE SICK There is a book where you can enter the name of the person to be prayed for. In line with Data Protection legislation please obtain the consent of the person before entering their name in the book. This book will be placed on the altar during each Mass in Our Lady of Peace Church.
GOING INTO HOSPITAL? If you wish to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion and Anointing of the Sick before going into Hospital please let us know. A visit can be arranged from Fr Anthony or Fr Marek.
CONFIRMING OUR PARISH NAME In discussion with Bishop David recently, it has been decided to firm up the name of our combined Parish by combining the two names together in a new logo. Going forward we are ‘Our Lady of Peace and St Andrew’s’. The Bishop is happy with this slight amendment as it helps in some way for people to understand that we are truly one Parish and not two separate entities. You will see the new logo appearing across the Parish in future.

ADOREMUS On Saturday, 14th September, the Catholic Church in England and Wales will gather at St Mary’s College, Oscott, for a special day dedicated to renewing and deepening devotion to the Eucharist. This event will include bishops, priests, and laypeople from all dioceses. St Mary’s College holds historical significance as the venue for the first Eucharistic Procession since the Reformation. Unlike the Adoremus event held in Liverpool in 2018, this gathering is not a public event. However, each diocese will be sending a limited number of pilgrims to participate. To extend this devotion to those unable to attend in person, the Bishops of England and Wales invite all parishes to host a time of Exposition on Sunday,15th September. This period of Exposition aims to unite the faithful in focusing on the Eucharist, as we anticipate the Jubilee Year with a renewed and deepened devotion.
