DECEASED Please pray for Manuel Kanagasuntherie RIP who died on 10th September aged 49, his Requiem Mass will be on Tuesday 10th October at 10.00am at Our Lady of Peace Church followed by Slough Crematorium. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen.
MASS CHANGE Please note there will be no 9.30am Mass on Tuesday, 10th October at Our lady of Peace due to the Requiem Mass for Manuel Kanagasuntherie RIP.
DROP-IN SESSIONS FOR OLOP REFURBISHMENT We’d like to thank everyone who stayed for the drop-in session last Sunday. We are grateful to Lisa Timms, Liz Bamber, and the rest of the crew for the hard work in preparation and their outstanding delivery. On the notice board at Our Lady of Peace, we are now displaying architectural designs and visual impressions of our refurbishment plans.
In addition, we have shown the most recent figures for monies donated to the project. Please note that the session last Sunday was only one of several planned to update parishioners of what is going on and to answer any unanswered issues. Parishioners of Saint Andrews will also host drop-in sessions, as this project belongs to the entire parish of Our Lady of Peace and Saint Andrews.
RE-DEVELOPING ST ANDREW’S SITE You may remember that before the pandemic a project was begun which was looking at the possibility of redeveloping the St Andrew’s site, involving a rebuilt church and some housing. We have been exploring this again, but with a focus on affordable housing possibilities. To help with this, we will be having a Vision Meeting on Wednesday 11th October at 6.30pm to begin to discern what the project might involve, especially which community facilities to include. We are at a very early stage and no firm decisions will be made at the meeting, but we would be keen to hear all your ideas! Please do come.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2024 Catholic Children in Year 3 are invited to take part in the parish-based programme of preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist, leading up to their First Confession and First Holy Communion. The maximum number of children we can take is 88, if we reach that number by the deadline of 13th October, then any latecomers will have to wait until the start of the 2004/2025 edition. Please note that your child will need to be Baptised in order to join the programme.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE LONDON AND SLOUGH RUN We are very grateful to accept donations of specific clothing for our clients to support their dignity and their physical needs. However, lately, we have had a problem with some items donated to Our Lady of Peace Church that cannot be used. Disposing of them hasn’t been easy and at times is almost unmanageable.
So, we thought it would be useful to clarify the items that are really useful, such as: winter coats, winter jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, shirts, tops, boots, shoes, trainers as well as sleeping bags and blankets. Thank you so much for your donations, we will aim to collect from OLOP every Saturday. Please do not leave duvets, pillows, cushions, children’s clothes or old toys or other household items which we cannot use. Your cooperation is enormously appreciated. For queries regarding the London and Slough Run please contact 07746 950181 or email: admin[AT]thelondonandsloughrun.org
HOST OUR LADY WITH THE ROSARY CAMPAIGN “When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. (John 19:26-27). In October, the month of the Holy Rosary, we have the opportunity to be the loving Disciples of Christ who bring Our Blessed Mother home.
Our parish clergy will be available to pray with individuals and families in their homes. Throughout the month of October, a lovely statue of Our Lady of Fatima will visit our homes as we strive to pray the rosary all month long. Please contact Venecia, our Parish Secretary, via email office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org or by phone at 0162860576 to express your interest and provide a few preferable dates.
“BUILDING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER” October is the month of the Holy Rosary, and Bridget from St Andrews has come up with an excellent idea to raise money for the building project: In essence, try to create some time in your day to say the Rosary every day throughout October. It is a wonderful opportunity to deepen faith and converse interiorly with Jesus and Mary.
The Rosary is known for its meditative qualities, and therefore can bring peace and tranquillity to our hectic lives. Bridget’s idea is that we each put aside some money when we say the Rosary and at the end of October, we bring whatever we have collected to Mass. Bridget has produced a lovely little Rosary starter pack for anyone who needs help.
OLOP REFURBISHMENT We are all reminded that donations to the refurbishment of our Parish Church of Our Lady of Peace are now very welcome. Please find the blue envelopes supplied at the entrance exclusively for monies donated towards church refurbishments. The Dona Plate is also currently set up to accept kind donations for this project, and those who donate via bank transfer or standing order are advised to specify that the payment is specifically for the refurbishment of Our Lady of Peace Church (OLOP Refurbishment). May God, whose house you are helping to build, bless your lives with his Divine blessings.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY This year World Mission Sunday will be observed universally on Sunday 22nd October. The targeted parish is Kibera, Nigeria. Please bear this date in mind.
ORGANISING ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS ACROSS THE PARISH For anyone organising activities and events in OLP or St Andrew’s, please contact the Parish Office and advise Venecia so she can ensure that the diary is always current and check for clashes of venue or dates.
SAFEGUARDING DBS CHECKS If you have any DBS forms that need to be checked and validated, please contact Máirín Comfort. She can be reached via email at safeguarding.olop[AT]northamptondiocese.org, or at OLOP church after the 9.30am Mass. Kindly get in touch with her to arrange a suitable time for form validation. Thank you for your cooperation.

SLOUGH FOODBANK are appealing for more donations, the cost of living crisis has resulted in fewer donations and more clients and they are having to use their funds to buy food themselves to meet the current demand. The following link will take you to a list of items which they need. https://slough.foodbank.org.uk/give-help-2/foodbank-wishlist/

MOTHERS PRAYER INTENTION BOOK This is available at the Sacristy for your use. The mothers’ prayer group will pray for the intentions contained therein during their meetings on Thursdays.
MASS INTENTIONS If you wish to book a Mass Intention please place the intention in an envelope, write the name of the person(s) who the Mass is for, whether Deceased or Intention, also the name of the person who is offering the Mass. This will avoid any disappointment on the Mass intentions not being offered on the requested date(s).
OUR PARISH LIST OF THE SICK There is a book where you can enter the name of the person to be prayed for. In line with Data Protection legislation please obtain the consent of the person before entering their name in the book. This book will be placed on the altar during each Mass in Our Lady of Peace Church.
GOING INTO HOSPITAL? If you wish to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion and Anointing of the Sick before going into Hospital please let us know. A visit can be arranged from Fr Anthony or Fr Marek.
CONFIRMING OUR PARISH NAME In discussion with Bishop David recently, it has been decided to firm up the name of our combined Parish by combining the two names together in a new logo. Going forward we are ‘Our Lady of Peace and St Andrew’s’. The Bishop is happy with this slight amendment as it helps in some way for people to understand that we are truly one Parish and not two separate entities. You will see the new logo appearing across the Parish in future.
