The London and Slough Run was established in 1984 to support the homeless and people in need.
Distributing food, drink, clothing, bedding and toiletries to over 300 needy people on our streets.
Staffed solely by volunteers offering support and kindness to those that have no-one else to turn to. With bases in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire the volunteers organise the food and clothing each week and from there it is taken to London and Slough to hand out.
Helping people of all ages, nationalities and circumstances often from troubled backgrounds and living on the streets or on the poverty line as the result of redundancy, marital break ups or difficulties coping with everyday life.
We are entirely dependent on the generosity of its volunteers and its supporters, many of whom come from Burnham, Gerrards Cross, Slough and Marlow and without whom the charity could not operate. Visit our website for more information on how you can help. Please ‘Like’ us on facebook.

SLEEPOUT FOR THE WINTER NIGHT SHELTER
November 2017 Report:
Well – it’s over and done with for another year and what a cold night! The atmosphere was excellent and everyone was in great form. We were so glad to head back to our warm beds the following morning. While sleeping outside with not much more than cardboard for shelter, was a tough challenge for one night, it was but a mere taster of what homeless people on our streets have to endure – night after night.
It’s difficult to put into words just how grateful we are to you and to everyone who played a part in this event. 94 people participated on the night which is twice the number compared to last year and the best news of all is that we have hit our target for the funds needed to run the Winter Night Shelter once again this winter! The Winter Night Shelter is going from strength to strength. Last year almost 50 people were accommodated across the period, 20 of these went on to find permanent accommodation and 11 found employment.
The importance of providing that safe, warm place across the darkest coldest months cannot be stressed enough as we can see that it is helping many to move out of the downward spiral they are in and to regain their lives. Thank you so much for your help – we simply could not have achieved so much without you!

LONDON AND SLOUGH RUN NIGHT SHELTER
“The Trustees of the London and Slough Run would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Slough Winter Night Shelter 2017. The Shelter involved 7 local Churches and over 250 volunteers from all local faith groups, it ended in April and had 49 people use the service. Working with Slough Council we have helped find accommodation for 25 and 11 have found employment.
Sadly some are still sleeping rough in the town, we continue to help those with a weekly soup run at St Mary’s in Slough and working in partnership with the Slough Homelessness forum. The Salvation Army in Slough provide a drop in service for the homeless every day between 10am and 1pm and a soup Kitchen on Thursday and Sunday evenings between 6:45pm and 8:30pm. The Salvation army are desperately short of volunteers and have appealed to us for help. Training will be provided so If you can spare some time please contact Lin Anderson on 01753 525819.
This year’s ‘Slough Sleepout for the homeless’ fundraiser will be at St Bernard’s Catholic Grammar School on Saturday, 25th November at 7:30pm. Please see our website www.thelondonandsloughrun.com for further details. Thank you again for all your prayers and support.” – John Power, Chairman.
