GIVING TO THE PARISH THROUGH GIFT AID
We’re very grateful for all your donations given as loose change… But we would be even more grateful if you could consider placing your donation to the parish in an Offertory Envelope – And even more so with a Bank Standing Order.
WHY?
Because if you pay UK Income Tax, putting your donation into an Offertory Envelope – or making it through a Bank Standing Order – allows us to claim a tax refund from the Government to the value of what you give, which adds 25% at no extra cost to you.
HOW?
Very easy. All you need to do is ask Yvonne for a box of Offertory Envelopes if you haven’t already got one, or the forms to set up a Standing Order and add your name and address – it takes less than two minutes.
THE SMALL PRINT
You need to be paying enough Income Tax (what you pay on wages or self-employed earnings) to cover 25% of what you give to ALL charities you support, e.g.
Given to Our Lady of Peace
£250 a year
Given to CAFOD
£50 a year
TOTAL:
£300 a year
Must be paying tax of 25% of £300 which is £75 a year, £6.25 a month.
… Really won’t be a problem for most of us. Remember, paying VAT and Council Tax doesn’t count. You don’t have to pay any MORE tax than you would anyway. This is free to you! Honest!
