Parish Notices
PRIESTS ON RETREAT From Monday 13th to Thursday 16th March Frs. Marek and Anthony will be going on the annual Lenten retreat of the SMA fathers. Please keep our priests and the SMA Fathers in your prayers. We are grateful to father Pius Amoako, Parish Priest of Saint Ethelbert’s, for generously accepting to say our morning Masses from Tuesday to Thursday.
OFFICE CLOSURE Due to the absence of the priests and a new parish secretary the parish office will be closed until Friday, March 17th.
MASS CHANGES To allow Father Pius enough time to cover Masses for our parish and his, the morning Mass at St Andrews will be held at 9.00am rather than the customary 9.30am. There will also be no morning Mass on Saturday 18th March 2023.
DECEASED Please pray for the repose of the following who have gone before us marked with the sign of Faith: Richard Herbert Bamber, who passed away recently. His Requiem Mass will be held on Monday, March 20th at Our Lady of Peace Church. Richard arrives at the Church at 9.15am, so there will be no morning Mass on that date. Please keep their families in your prayers as they go through this trying time of mourning. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen.
ST PATRICK’S DAY We Wish all Parishioners of Irish descent or with ties to Ireland a very merry feast of Saint Patrick ahead. And as the Irish blessing goes: ‘For each petal on the shamrock, this brings a wish your way good health, good luck, and happiness for today and every day’.
“Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit!”
FIRST RECONCILIATION SERVICE The First Reconciliation service and First confession for our First Holy Communion candidates will be held on Saturday 18th March at 9.30 am in Our Lady of Peace Church.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY It is with great excitement that after a lengthy hiatus due to the pandemic, the children’s liturgy resumes at Our Lady of Peace this Sunday, March 12, 2023, during the 9:30am Mass. The service will take place in the Sacristy. In the interim we will start with a monthly session and work our way up from there. We encourage parents to let their children participate in this liturgy designed to help them understand and appreciate the faith.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS During Lent, Stations of the Cross will be held on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Stations will be held at Our Lady of Peace after morning Mass on Wednesdays and at 7 p.m. on Fridays. It will also be held after the 9.30am Mass at St Andrews on Thursdays.
LENTEN LUNCHES every Tuesday during lent at St Andrews Cippenham, 12.30pm-2.00pm. Soup and bread will be served during these lunches starting on Tuesday 28th February, till the 4th of April 2023. The two lunches we’ve had so far have gone very well and parishioners that attended seem to enjoy themselves. Big thanks to the soup makers, the soups are varied and delicious. Look forward to seeing you there.
MORNING PRAYER will be said on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 9.15am in Our Lady of Peace, and on Thursday at 9.15am in St Andrew’s.
MOTHERS PRAYERS Our meetings take place on Thursday mornings at 10.30am. This is a wonderful opportunity to pray for our children and grandchildren.
MOTHERS PRAYER INTENTION BOOK This is available at the Sacristy for your use. The mothers’ prayer group will pray for the intentions contained therein during their meetings on Thursdays.
FOUND Two door keys on a fob found in the car park and a child’s red knitted glove in Church.
THANKS Thanks are due to Chris Edwards, who has kindly restored the mower and strimmer to mint condition without charge.
SALE OF OLIVE WOOD CARVINGS Good Shepherd Company from the Holy Land (Bethlehem) based in Nottingham will be selling Olive wood arts in our Parish this weekend. This company’s goal is to support and assist Christian families in the Holy Land in remaining employed, as olive wood carvings are one of the most important sources of income for them, as 90% of Christians rely on this sale. Being able to sell these olive wood arts created by Christian families will provide them with a source of income, allowing them to remain in their home country. Without income from the sale of olivewood crafts, these Christians will be forced to leave their country in search of better employment opportunities. A test survey conducted by the bishops of Jerusalem in the area revealed that only 41,000 Christians remain in the area.
TEA AND COFFEE refreshments are available each Sunday after the 9.30am Mass.
COFFEE SHOP is held at St Andrew’s every Saturday morning from 10.00am – 12.00noon. It is open to everyone, please pop in and enjoy tea/coffee and cake!
OUR PARISH LIST OF THE SICK There is a book where you can enter the name of the person to be prayed for. In line with Data Protection legislation please obtain the consent of the person before entering their name in the book. This book will be placed on the altar during each Mass in Our Lady of Peace Church.
MASS INTENTIONS If you wish to book a Mass Intention please place the intention in an envelope, write the name of the person(s) who the Mass is for, whether Deceased or Intention, also the name of the person who is offering the Mass. This will avoid any disappointment on the Mass intentions not being offered on the requested date(s).
ST GILBERT’S MISSION PROJECT there are little bottles in the Church porches for any spare change! Please take one home and return when filled up!
SLOUGH FOODBANK are appealing for more donations, the cost of living crisis has resulted in fewer donations and more clients and they are having to use their funds to buy food themselves to meet the current demand. The following link will take you to a list of items which they need. https://slough.foodbank.org.uk/give-help-2/foodbank-wishlist/
CONFIRMING OUR PARISH NAME In discussion with Bishop David recently, it has been decided to firm up the name of our combined Parish by combining the two names together in a new logo. Going forward we are ‘Our Lady of Peace and St Andrew’s’. The Bishop is happy with this slight amendment as it helps in some way for people to understand that we are truly one Parish and not two separate entities. You will see the new logo appearing across the Parish in future.
