MORNING PRAYER will be said on Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 9.15am in Our Lady of Peace, and on Thursday at 9.15am in St Andrew’s.
CONGRATULATIONS to Kieran Carroll who will receive the Sacrament of Baptism on Saturday, 29th October in Our Lady of Peace. Please pray for Kieran, his parents, Grandparents and Godparents.
BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE As in previous years, the Book of Remembrance will be kept in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel during November. Please leave the names of any relatives and friends you wish to be entered in the Book of Remembrance by Sunday, 30th October, for the book to be ready for the 1st November. Kindly print the names clearly – if the names have already been entered there is no need to enter them again. Please return names to the Presbytery or email Yvonne on office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org
HOLY SOULS ENVELOPES These will be available next week and can be found in the Church porches. Please write the names of your dear ones and put in the envelope with your offering. The envelopes can be returned with the usual collection or put them through the letter box at the Presbytery. Your dear ones will be remembered at all the Masses for the Holy Souls offered during November.
OFFERTORY The collection for 16th October amounted to £615.28. We are very grateful for your continued support. We are very grateful for your continued support. There will be a retiring collection this weekend for World Mission Sunday ‘Missio’.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY : 23RD OCTOBER World Mission Sunday is being celebrated in every Catholic parish around the world today! It supports missionaries who work alongside communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief. By supporting Missio, the Pope’s charity for world mission, you will help missionaries like Maria witness to their faith and offer vulnerable women in Ethiopia hope for a better future.
Please pray for the mission of the Church throughout the world and give what you can to this very important collection which will sustain the future of our Church. If you use the donation envelopes, please return the envelopes in the collection bags.
This Sunday, a further supply of envelopes will be available so that everyone will have the opportunity to use one. They enable you to request gift aid (an extra 25% – totally free) on your cash gift in the envelope, to send a cheque, to arrange a standing order, or give by credit/debit card. If you wish to do this at home you may bring your completed envelope next week.
CONFIRMING OUR PARISH NAME In discussion with Bishop David recently, it has been decided to firm up the name of our combined Parish by combining the two names together in a new logo. Going forward we are ‘Our Lady of Peace and St Andrew’s’. The Bishop is happy with this slight amendment as it helps in some way for people to understand that we are truly one Parish and not two separate entities. You will see the new logo appearing across the Parish in future.
TEA AND COFFEE refreshments are available each Sunday after the 9.30am Mass.
ST GILBERT’S MISSION PROJECT Mary McCarthy will be selling Christmas goods next weekend at all Masses. Please support this work.
HOST A ROSARY CAMPAIGN in the month of the October, which is the month of the Rosary. Fr Anthony and Fr Marek will be available to visit homes of individuals and families. The purpose is to pray together, have a chat about the life of the Parish and get to know each other. You are invited to contact Yvonne to express your interest and preferred dates. Please email office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org or ring the office on 01628 605764.
RED BOXES Would all Red Box holders kindly note that their boxes will be welcomed any week in November in order to make sure that the maximum effort for this year may be recorded and banked by 31st December, the year end for the fund. A new circulation of empty boxes will then be made for January onwards.
LAUNCHING OUR PARISH SYMPOSIUM – SAVE THE DATES As promised, following the Synod, we now invite everyone in the parish to take part in our Parish Symposium which will be held in St Andrew’s Shared Church across two dates as follows: 4th November, 7:30pm – 9:30pm (refreshments provided) 12th November, 10:00am- 4:00pm (includes a bring-and-share lunch).
The symposium will help us understand Pope Francis’ thinking on how he wants us to take a listening, discerning approach if we are to move forward successfully. We will reflect on the output from the Synod, listen to thoughts, ideas and suggestions and consider what exactly the Holy Spirit is telling us, what is coming for us as a Parish and where do we go from here.
This Symposium is extremely important to us all and it will be opened up to the Churches in the Deanery and also the Anglican community who took part in the Synod process. Both dates are interlinked and we hope everyone will be able to attend. More information will be released in the coming weeks but if you have any questions in the meantime, please contact the Parish office.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR FAITH? Consider joining online to follow the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies or Diocesan Certificate in Religious Studies? Both courses offer the same eight modules in Scripture and Catholic Theology with the CCRS leading to a nationally recognised qualification. Those who follow the CCRS/DCRS say they gain a great deal from the course, deepening their knowledge and understanding of their faith. To find out more about the course, contact Ann Collon Email: educationserviceadmin[AT]northamptondiocese.org or visit our website: www.northamptondioceseschools.org
BAPTISM COURSE Deacon Michael will be holding a Baptism course, via Zoom, on Monday, 24th October between 6.00pm and 8.00pm. This course is for ‘first time’ parents who wish to have their child Baptised over the next few months. Both Parents and Godparents are required to be at the course. Please contact Yvonne via email on office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org to register to join.
MASS INTENTIONS If you wish to book a Mass Intention please place the intention in an envelope, write the name of the person(s) who the Mass is for, whether Deceased or Intention, also the name of the person who is offering the Mass. This will avoid any disappointment on the Mass intentions not being offered on the requested date(s).
ROSARY GROUP The Rosary Group recite the Rosary after 9.30am Mass each morning in Our Lady of Peace Church. Please join them if you can.
PARISH PRAYER LIST Please remember all those who are in our Parish Prayer list book, which is placed on the Altar at each Mass. If you wish to add a name to the list please obtain the permission of the person and write the name in the book.
