PARISH MASS COUNT ‘Week Four’ of our annual Mass count this weekend. There will be four counts in total over consecutive weekends.
BISHOP DAVID visited our Parish on Friday, 7th October for our Confirmation Mass, when eleven members of our Parish community received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Congratulations to: Zuzanna, Louis, Kavin, Krishna, Bradley, Ruby, Ryan, Ashlyn, Jakub, Michalina and Sam. Please keep Bishop David and all our Confirmandi in your Prayers.
DECEASED Please pray for Lawrence Cronin RIP, his Requiem Mass will be on Monday, 10th October at 1.45pm followed by Committal at Slough Crematorium.
Please pray for Mark Ward RIP who has died, his Funeral will take place at Slough Crematorium on Thursday, 13th October at 2.30pm. Please pray for John Patrick Arthur Webb RIP, who has died, his Funeral Service will be at Slough Crematorium on Friday, 14th October at 2.00pm followed by Burial at Slough Cemetery.
Also please pray for Peter Garfitt RIP who died last week, no details of his funeral arrangements are available currently. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace, Amen.
MORNING PRAYER will be said each morning at 9.15am in Our Lady of Peace.
HARVEST The Church of England community at Saint Andrew’s invites all Parishioners of Our Lady of Peace and Saint Andrew’s to attend their Harvest Celebrations this Sunday, 9th October. This will include a Bring and Share meal at 3.00pm, where there will also be Worship and activities for all ages, including children. Let us kindly join in this Harvest and express our Christian love and unity through this event.
OFFERTORY The collection for 2nd October amounted to £582.05. The retiring collection for the work of the SVP amounted to £187.48. We are very grateful for your continued support. There will be a retiring collection this weekend for CAFOD.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY : 23RD OCTOBER World Mission Sunday is when the Holy Father invites all Catholics to contribute to a special collection for Missio, his charity for World Mission. There will be envelopes available next weekend. Please support Missio in helping missionaries to work alongside communities throughout the world that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief. Join in on this special day, that unites Catholics all over the world in prayer and celebration of our Church’s mission to share God’s love with all people.
THANK YOU for the donation of £62.57. from the ‘Tea and Coffee’ team, many thanks to all who support them each week.
TEA AND COFFEE refreshments are available each Sunday after the 9.30am Mass.
HCPT “Thank you” to all who supported the dance held in the Irish Club recently, to all who bought tickets and for the donations for the raffle prizes. It was a very successful evening for a very worthy cause. Thank you!
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2023 If your child is in Year 3 or above, and you wish your child to receive their First Holy Communion in May 2023 you will need to enrol them on the First Holy Communion programme. The First Holy Communion classes will begin in January 2023 and will be held on Saturday mornings. Please provide your expression of interest by 21st October via email olopcommunion[AT]gmail.com. The maximum amount of children we can take is 88, if we reach that number by the deadline of 21st October, then any latecomers will have to wait until 2024. Please note your child will need to be Baptised in order to join the programme.
PRISONERS’ SUNDAY 9th October, marks the first day of the ecumenical Prisons Week, a dedicated week of prayer across our Christian communities. Prisons Week was founded by Bishop Victor Guazzelli in 1975. Since then, the Prisons Week group has prepared resources to enable the Christian community to pray for the needs of all those affected by imprisonment. There are some envelopes available at the back of the Church if you wish to make a donation. Please pray for all those impacted by our criminal justice system :
The Prisons Week Prayer – Lord, you offer freedom to all people. We pray for those in prison. Break the bonds of fear and isolation that exist. Support with your love prisoners and their families and friends, prison staff and all who care. Heal those who have been wounded by the actions of others, especially the victims of crime. Help us to forgive one another, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly together with Christ, in his strength and in his Spirit, now and every day. Amen
HOST A ROSARY CAMPAIGN in the month of the October, which is the month of the Rosary. Fr Anthony and Fr Marek will be available to visit homes of individuals and families. The purpose is to pray together, have a chat about the life of the Parish and get to know each other. You are invited to contact Yvonne to express your interest and preferred dates. SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMISSION FORMS Fr Anthony will be available to sign any School forms for transition to Secondary School(s) on Tuesday, 11th October between 10.00am and 2.00pm. Please contact Yvonne to arrange an appointment via email office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org
MASS INTENTIONS If you wish to book a Mass Intention please place the intention in an envelope, write the name of the person(s) who the Mass is for, whether Deceased or Intention, also the name of the person who is offering the Mass. This will avoid any disappointment on the Mass intentions not being offered on the requested date(s).
ROSARY GROUP The Rosary Group recite the Rosary after 9.30am Mass each morning in Our Lady of Peace Church. Please join them if you can.

SLOUGH FOODBANK are appealing for more donations, the cost of living crisis has resulted in fewer donations and more clients and they are having to use their funds to buy food themselves to meet the current demand. ST GILBERT’S MISSION PROJECT still continue raising funds. Small plastic bottles are available in the Church porches for any loose change you would like to donate to the St Gilbert’s Mission Project. Please return full bottles to Our Lady of Peace.
PARISH SAFEGUARDING REPRESENTATIVE Máirín Comfort is our Parish Safeguarding Representative. The role of the Parish Safeguarding Officer is to provide support, advice and information on all matters concerning the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in the parish. YOUTH GROUP 11+ All 11+ Youths from St Andrew’s and Our Lady of Peace – our next meeting will be on 9th October at 2.30pm until 4.00pm in Our Lady of Peace Church. RELICS OF ST BERNADETTE SOUBIROUS TOUR The relics of St Bernadette Soubirous will visit Northampton Cathedral from Monday, 10th to Thursday, 13th October. St Bernadette was a poor girl from a small town in France, who was chosen by God to bring a message of devotion to the Priest and people through 18 apparitions. You are welcome to come and pray beside the relics at any time during the visit. Please see poster in the Church porch for the full programme.

SHEKHINAH PRAYER GROUP meet online weekly on Wednesdays from 7.00pm to 8.30pm via Zoom. Catholic teachings on different topics and Lectio Divina (Praying the Scriptures) are handled on alternative weeks, on Wednesday, 12th October, the topic will be Lectio Divina. THE GATHERING 2022 Bearing Fruit in Plenty. Saturday, 22nd October 1.00pm-5.00pm Northampton Diocese Women’s Ministry Group warmly invite you to an afternoon of sharing, reflection, synodal conversation, worship and prayer at Thornton College, MK17 0HJ. RELICS OF ST BERNADETTE SOUBIROUS We are taking a coach to Aylesford on Wednesday, 26th October for the Relics of St Bernadette. Cost is £22 per person and pickup from Holy Redeemer, Slough at 7.00am and at Ealing Broadway Station at 8.00am and departing Aylesford around 5.00pm. We want to spend the whole day with St Bernadette’s Relics and we will include in the programme some of our own devotions. Please call Millie on 07957 594646 to book a seat.
RETROUVAILLE A Program for Couples Struggling in their Marriages. Help Your Marriage – Do you feel alone? Are you frustrated or angry with each other? Do you argue… or have you just stopped talking to each other? Does talking about it only make it worse? Retrouvaille is a program to support couples who have difficulties in their marriage. It brings a positive focus, new hope and helps nourish and grow your marriage. Tens of thousands of couples headed for divorce have successfully saved their marriages by attending and using the tools provided. The program helps spouses uncover or re-awaken the love, trust and commitment that originally brought them together. It helps them through difficult times whether they are disillusioned or in deep misery. There is no group therapy or group work.

A PARISHIONER HAS VERY KINDLY OFFERED TO PRINT AND DELIVER COPIES OF OUR WEEKLY BULLETIN to those unable to attend Mass each week, this would only be posted through the letterbox. If you know of anyone who would like a copy delivered, please contact Yvonne via email or contact the Parish office on 01628 605764. Please obtain the permission of the Parishioner to provide their address to Yvonne.
MASS BOOKINGS Kindly drop off your intentions at the Presbytery, place it in the donation box in the Church or give it to Fr Anthony. You can still make a request for Masses by email and telephone.

FINANCES We are extremely grateful, not only for your financial support, but also to the volunteers who help in so many ways for the Church to remain open for Masses.
Your valued ongoing support to the Parish can be made through the following options:
- Donating by phone: ‘Giving Tuesday’ – Telephone Donation In addition to the online donation facilities currently available, the Diocese has begun a ‘Giving Tuesday’. Each Tuesday between 10:00am and 4:00pm, you can call this number, 01604 712065, and donate to your parish.
- Online Donation We are now using a new provider ‘Invest My Community’ who work with other Catholic Diocese, schools and charities. You can access our online giving page via the donate button on our Diocesan Website or by using the following link https://northamptondiocese.org/donate/ If you would like to use this facility to make your regular, one off donations please ensure you indicate this along with the name of your parish, and any other message detail in the ‘Public Message’ box. Please note this information is not made visible to the public.
- Standing Order via donor’s own bank: You can set up a standing order for donations to your parish using either your online bank account or in branch. You can also make a one-off payment to the parish. The information required to make the donation is as follows:

Please indicate on this form if you are not a tax payer but would like to set up a standing order only. There are two sides/sheets to this form, it should be printed, completed, signed and returned to our Parish office, we will then forward to central offices at Bishop’s House for processing at a later date. Please remember to state which parish this standing is for i.e. ‘For the benefit of Our Lady of Peace, Slough Parish’ section at the top of the form. Banks will require 7 working days from receipt of these forms to activate the request so please ensure the start date reflects this 7 day period to ensure the S.O. can take effect.

- Contactless Donations 💳 We have installed ‘Digital Collection Plate’ contactless terminals in the Churches, allowing you to donate using a contactless debit/credit card, NFC smartphone or watch. Simply enter the amount you wish to donate and hold your card (or NFC device) to the reader. You can also opt-in for Gift Aid to increase your donation by 25%. If you are a UK taxpayer then donating with Gift Aid means that we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 received.
- Parish Donations Portal 💳 After a successful trial of the physical digital collection plate in our Churches, we are pleased to announce that a web portal is now available as a queue-free alternative. Either use the link (Gift Aid giving is available using one-time registration): https://portal.mydona.com/assets/webPay/index.php?cid=419 or with your QR code reader mobile app, scan the code in the printed newsletter, click on the link to mydona.com, and it will give you the same options available on the Digital Plate in Church.
