Bishop of Northampton prays for The Queen in Rome
The Right Reverend David Oakley, Bishop of Northampton, is in Rome at present and has prayed in the chapel at the Venerable English College for the repose of the soul of Queen Elizabeth II.
“My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, many of us will have known no other sovereign than Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. We commend her soul into the hands of a merciful Lord and pray that she will know eternal rest. We pray for King Charles. The apostle Paul invites us to pray for those in civic leadership in our society.”

Prayers for the repose of the soul of HM Queen Elizabeth II
For the happy repose of HM The Queen
Almighty God,
You are the author and sustainer of all human life;
grant that your servant, Elizabeth our Queen,
whom you granted a long and happy reign as Monarch of these lands
may be forgiven her sins and rewarded with that eternal life
promised to all those born again
in the water of baptism and power of your Spirit.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit
God, forever and ever,
Amen.
Eternal rest, grant to her O Lord,
And let Perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace.
Amen.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed,
Through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
Psalm 121 – A Song of Ascents
I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where shall come my help?
My help shall come from the Lord
who made heaven and earth.
May he never allow you to stumble!
Let him sleep not your guard.
No, he sleeps not nor slumbers,
Israel’s guard.
The Lord your guard and your shade;
at your right side he stands.
By day the sun shall not smite you,
nor the moon in the night.
The Lord will guard you from evil;
he wall guard your soul.
The Lord will guard your going and coming,
both now and forever.
Canticle of Simeon
(Luke 2:29-32)
At last, all-powerful Master,
you give leave to your servant
to go in peace, according to your promise.
For my eyes have seen your salvation
Which you have prepared for all nations,
The light to enlighten the Gentiles
And give glory to Israel, your people.
Prayer for the Royal Family
Almighty God, source of all consolation,
we pray for the members of the Royal Family who mourn the loss
of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
Uphold them in your love
and pour out on them the consolation of your healing Spirit.
Let them find in your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ
comfort in their sadness,
certainty in their doubt
and courage to live through this hour.
We ask this through Christ our Lord Amen.
Prayer for the King
O God, to whom every human power is subject.
Grant to your servant His Majesty the King
wisdom in the exercise of his high office,
so that, always revering to you and striving to please you,
he may constantly secure and preserve
for the people entrusted to his care
the freedom that comes from unity and peace.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit
God, forever and ever.
Amen.

DEC PAKISTAN FLOODS APPEAL Devastating floods have hit Pakistan, leaving millions in urgent need of help to survive. A third of the country is now underwater (that’s an area almost the size of Great Britain). CAFOD are appealing for your help, their local partners support communities with clean drinking water, food, emergency medical assistance and shelter. Please pray for those affected and donate now at cafod.org.uk/give
Prayer for those affected by the Pakistan floods :
O Lord, in the goodness of your constant love, be with the people of Pakistan as they face devastating floods. At this time of great loss – loss of lives, homes and crops – may we be filled with your compassion and moved to reach out in love. As we stand alongside our sisters and brothers, we pray that they may find consolation in their sorrow, strength as they seek shelter and safety and courage to carry on. Forgive us, O Lord, for our part in the climate crisis, and inspire us all to play our part in protecting the earth, our common home. So that together we may build a world that reflects your glory, where hope drives out despair and all things are made new.

FEELING ISOLATED? We realise there are many parishioners who are not on our data base who may be feeling isolated from the Parish because they hear nothing from us. To enable us to reach out and find out where people live and how they are managing, we are making a plea for Parishioners to contact people, via telephone, or from a safe distance wearing a mask, who have no access to the internet and encourage them to provide a telephone number to allow us to check on how they are. If you know of any parishioner, please let Yvonne know, either via email office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org or telephone the office on 01628 605764 or Fr Anthony on 07853 106000, email franthony.dampson[AT]northamptondiocese.org

SLOUGH FOODBANK are appealing for more donations, the cost of living crisis has resulted in fewer donations and more clients and they are having to use their funds to buy food themselves to meet the current demand. The following link will take you to a list of items which they need. https://slough.foodbank.org.uk/give-help-2/foodbank-wishlist/

If you have any queries, please contact Máirín via the Parish office.
COVID There is still a risk associated with gathering for sustained periods in enclosed spaces and therefore we will continue to monitor our practices in the Churches to ensure we are as Covid secure as possible. Inside churches we encourage you to continue to wear a mask if possible. There will be no social distancing but please be sensitive to the needs of others around you. For those wishing to maintain social distance the right-hand side aisle (looking at the altar) will be reserved for this purpose. The sign of peace can be re-introduced, and holy water stoups filled up again. We should continue to ensure there is good ventilation, balancing this against the need for church heating, especially at this time. If you experience any COVID-19 symptoms, stay at home. If you tested positive for COVID-19 and were in Church recently, stay at home and inform us immediately by calling 01628 605764 so that we can take the necessary steps. Thank you for your continued vigilance.
