PEACE SUNDAY This Sunday, 16th January, is Peace Sunday and this year Pope Francis asks us to think about ‘Education, work and dialogue between generations: tools for building lasting peace’. The need for peace in the world is obvious. People are struggling against violence and conflict, growing inequalities, the effects of climate change and the covid pandemic. How can we harness the gifts and energy of all generations in the work of peacemaking? Which ‘tools for building lasting peace’ do you think Pope Francis might be talking about? In this country we have an active Catholic peace movement in Pax Christi, which does a great deal of good work to promote peace and nonviolence through parishes, schools and social media. Their website suggests many ways we can all become better peacemakers. There are activities for families to do at home, including a peace liturgy for young children. https://paxchristi.org.uk/peace-sunday-2022 Pax Christi needs our support to keep going. If you would like to make a donation, small or large, here is the link: https://tinyurl.com/yxfcw67x
STAYING ALERT As we continue in this pandemic with the Omicron variant, it is critical we continue to follow Government rules and guidance. If you experience any COVID-19 symptoms, stay at home. If you tested positive for COVID-19 and were in Church recently, stay at home and inform us immediately by calling 01628 605764 so that we can take the necessary steps. Thank you for your continued vigilance.

SYNOD CONSULTATIONS AT OUR LADY OF PEACE AND ST ANDREW’S CHURCHES You will, by now, have heard something of the Synod taking place throughout the world at the request of Pope Francis. For our community, this will take place in the form of Consultations or Listening Sessions where we are invited to express our views and share our ideas on the Church today and our Church for the future. We are now ready to book these sessions – open the Consultation flyer link below for instructions and the proposed schedule. We look forward to hearing from you and to engaging in this unique endeavour where your thoughts and ideas will help to plant seeds of hope and create a bright future where the Church will flourish. If you have any queries in the meantime, or if you would like to join the Facilitation Team, please get in touch with the Parish office for more information.

Your valued ongoing support to the Parish can be made through the following options:

Please remember to state which parish this standing is for i.e. ‘For the benefit of Our Lady of Peace, Slough Parish’ section at the top of the form. Banks will require 7 working days from receipt of these forms to activate the request so please ensure the start date reflects this 7 day period to ensure the S.O. can take effect.
- There is also a donation box in Our Lady of Peace for Mass intentions, offertory, donations, etc.
- Contactless Donations 💳 We have installed ‘Digital Collection Plate’ contactless terminals in the Churches, allowing you to donate using a contactless debit/credit card, NFC smartphone or watch. Simply enter the amount you wish to donate and hold your card (or NFC device) to the reader. You can also opt-in for Gift Aid to increase your donation by 25%. If you are a UK taxpayer then donating with Gift Aid means that we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 received.
