CONGRATULATIONS to Nico Jacob Whorms and Teddy Joe Maurice Alexander who will receive the Sacrament of Baptism on Saturday, 23rd October in Our Lady of Peace. Please pray for Nico and Teddy, their parents, Grandparents and Godparents.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY 24th October, will be observed and supported by every Parish in the Universal Church. Pope Francis chooses a theme from the Acts of the Apostles (4.20) “We cannot but speak about what we have seen and heard”. In our present-day situation, our faith still tells us exactly that and, further, means we cannot ignore the plight of our sisters and brothers who live in perilous circumstances in various parts of the world. This year the spotlight falls on Nigeria, particularly in the Kaduna area. You will find a Gift Aid envelope at your disposal at Mass today. Please be as generous as possible to support our Missionaries in their hard work and return it next week. Poverty is at the root of the matter. Different ways of donating are printed on the envelope and, of course, your Prayers are invaluable.
FR JOSEPH You are invited to celebrate Fr Joseph’s 50th Birthday and 18th Priestly Anniversary Thanksgiving on Friday, 22nd October in St Andrew’s Church, Mass at 6.00pm followed by a celebration. RSVP by email to Yvonne on office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org by 19th October.
SCRIPTURAL ROSARY The Rosary Group are meeting in Our Lady of Peace Church to recite a Scriptural Rosary on Monday, 18th October at 10.00am. All parishioners are most welcome to attend. Any queries please email Denise on dennymcclintock73[AT]sky.com
THE PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR THE SYNOD:
Adsumus Sancte Spiritus
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder. Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path
nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life
and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.
Every session of the Second Vatican Council began with the prayer Adsumus Sancte Spiritus, the first word of the Latin original meaning, “We stand before You, Holy Spirit,” which has been historically used at Councils, Synods and other Church gatherings for hundreds of years, being attributed to Saint Isidore of Seville (c. 560 – 4 April 636). As we are called to embrace this synodal path of the Synod 2021-2023, this prayer invites the Holy Spirit to operate within us so that we may be a community and a people of grace. For the Synod 2021-2023, we propose to use this simplified version, so that any group or liturgical assembly can pray more easily. For further resources see www.synod.va
