SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT (YEAR B)
PARISH OFFICE Yvonne has returned to her duties as Parish Secretary, albeit working from home for two days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.00am to 2.00pm, until further notice. For all Parish matters please contact Yvonne via email on office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org or Fr Joseph via email on frjosephudoh[AT]northamptondiocese.org or you can telephone the Parish office on 01628 605764 and leave a message.
FEELING ISOLATED? We realise there are many parishioners who are not on our data base who may be feeling isolated from the Parish because they hear nothing from us. To enable us to reach out and find out where people live and how they are managing, we are making a plea for Parishioners to contact people – via telephone or from a 2m distance wearing a mask, who have no access to the internet and encourage them to provide a telephone number to allow us to check on how they are. If you know of any parishioner please let Yvonne know, either via email office.ourladyofpeace[AT]northamptondiocese.org or telephone the office on 01628 605764.
A PARISHIONER HAS VERY KINDLY OFFERED TO PRINT AND DELIVER A COPY OF OUR WEEKLY BULLETIN to those unable to attend Mass each week, this would only be posted through the letterbox. If you know of anyone who would like a copy delivered please contact Yvonne via email or contact the Parish office on 01628 605764. Please obtain the permission of the Parishioner to provide their address to Yvonne.

WITH CURRENT GOVERNMENT RULES More than ever we must take every precaution to ensure that we are all following Government rules by staying at home ensuring that contact with others is strictly ‘essential’ only. Please remember there is no duty or responsibility to come to Church, and there is no obligation to attend Mass on Sunday. If you are feeling unwell please do not attend mass – stay at home.
STAYING ALERT As we enter this phase of the pandemic, it is critical we continue to follow Government rules and guidance. Please remember if you experience any COVID-19 symptoms, stay at home. If you tested positive for COVID-19 and were in Church recently, stay at home and inform us immediately by calling 01628 605764 so that we can take the necessary steps to ensure everyone’s safety. Thank you for your continued vigilance and please God, we will see the vaccine rollout soon, but in the meantime, stay safe.
RED BOXES Definitely not forgotten your long overdue ‘swap over’, hopefully this will take place at the earliest date after lockdown easing. Last year’s magazines will be used for this year and can be collected with the new Red Boxes when distributed/collected.
PATHWAYS OF PRAYER Pathways or Prayer is a programme of 6 sessions during which we will explore the nature and purpose of prayer and how it fits into everyday life. We will be reflecting on our own way of praying and how it may have changed over time, try out some new ways of praying, and think about prayer in good times and bad. The course will run on Monday evenings for 6 weeks on the Zoom platform starting on Monday, 22nd February at 7.30pm and each session will last a maximum of one and a half hours. If you would like to join the Parish group on this journey through Lent, then please contact me to register on 01628 543650 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
NATIONAL NOVENA TO ST JOSEPH : 10TH – 18TH MARCH This year’s Novena will take place in a different way from previous years. The Novena will be celebrated from St Joseph’s Church in Maidenhead from Wednesday, 10th March to Thursday, 18th March, the Masses from St Joseph’s Church will be made available to view on Zoom, via our Mill Hill website : www.millhillmissionaries.com/novena. If you would like to have a Novena prayer leaflet to enable you to join them from home by praying the daily Novena prayer, please write to the Novena Director at St Joseph’s Missionary Society, 41 Victoria Road, Liverpool, L37 1LW, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope, or email email@example.com.
Your petitions and intentions are very welcome, they will be placed at St Joseph’s Altar and will be remembered in the Masses and prayers during the Novena. On 8th December 2020, Pope Francis proclaimed a Year of St Joseph, to mark the 150th Anniversary of the declaration of Pope Pius IX of St Joseph as the Patron of the Universal Church, his Apostolic Letter Patris Corde (“With a Father’s Heart”) can be accessed from the Vatican.va news website.
PEACE IN A LENTEN LOCKDOWN Lenten Lockdown may not sound very appealing but even during these tough times of home working and schooling, isolation and general fear, there is also hope. In this Lenten Lockdown resource you will find a number of ideas which can help you through this difficult period, from 5 minute daily prayer, to longer retreat style activities and I would encourage you to explore them in the hope that they help you to find peace and inspiration in our Saviour. This could be a wonderful opportunity to take stock, reflect and to reconnect with Him and bring His light into this darkness’.
