DECEASED Please pray for Maria Antonieta Ophelia Almeida RIP who died recently, her Requiem Mass will be strictly private on Thursday, 25th February at 9.30am in Our Lady of Peace, followed by burial at Slough Cemetery. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen. Please note there will be no Mass in St Andrew’s on that day.
MASS CHANGES In this current situation which has deteriorated alarmingly in recent weeks, it is our responsibility to ensure that our Parishioners are kept safe, together with our Stewards. The number of people attending Masses is understandably reducing each week, as a further step to keep everybody safe we have taken the decision to reduce the number of Public Masses offered during the week.
Please note that the 10.00am Saturday Mass (for the vulnerable), has been removed as vulnerable people should be shielding and staying at home. The Monday 9.30am Mass has also been removed.
Please see revised schedule:
Sunday 9.30am in Our Lady of Peace – Normal Public Mass (Livestreamed online) 11.30am in St Andrew’s – Normal Public Mass (No livestream) |
Monday 9.30am in Our Lady of Peace – Private Mass (Livestream only) |
Tuesday 9.30am in Our Lady of Peace – Normal Public Mass (Livestreamed) |
Thursday 9.30am in St Andrew’s – Normal Public Mass (No livestream) |
Friday 9.30am in Our Lady of Peace – Normal Public Mass (Livestreamed) |
Saturday 6.00pm in Our Lady of Peace – Normal Public Mass (No livestream) |
LIVE MASS ON THE RADIO For those unable to follow via livestreaming, Mass is available on a new Catholic station on DAB Digital Radio. If your radio receives DAB+ stations select ‘Radio Maria Eng’ (DAB band 12A 223.936 MHz), or listen online https://radiomariaengland.uk.
WITH CURRENT GOVERNMENT RULES More than ever we must take every precaution to ensure that we are all following Government rules by staying at home ensuring that contact with others is strictly ‘essential’ only. Please remember there is no duty or responsibility to come to Church, and there is no obligation to attend Mass on Sunday. If you are feeling unwell please do not attend mass – stay at home.
STAYING ALERT As we enter this phase of the pandemic, it is critical we continue to follow Government rules and guidance. Please remember if you experience any COVID-19 symptoms, stay at home. If you tested positive for COVID-19 and were in Church recently, stay at home and inform us immediately by calling 01628 605764 so that we can take the necessary steps to ensure everyone’s safety.
Thank you for your continued vigilance and please God, we will see the vaccine rollout soon, but in the meantime, stay safe.
HOMELESS SUNDAY Next Sunday February 21st will be celebrated as Homeless Sunday in our Parish. Our parish charity The London and Slough Run for the homeless has been working hard in Slough for the past year alongside Slough Council and SHOC (Slough Homeless our Concern) to provide for the homeless in the area. Many have been found accommodation and some of which has been funded by the charity to help people back into society and to find work. They also collect food from supermarkets and Heathrow caterers, and distribute it to the needy via the food banks, hostels and faith communities. The Parish usually supports the annual ‘Sleep out’ which could not take place last year. Knowing that many people are struggling financially the charity is asking those who can afford to give something to go to the Just Giving page of the website, or drop it in to the Presbytery in an envelope marked ‘London Run’. Very many thanks.
FEELING ISOLATED? We realise there are many parishioners who are not on our data base who may be feeling isolated from the Parish because they hear nothing from us. To enable us to reach out and find out where people live and how they are managing, we are making a plea for Parishioners to contact people – via telephone or from a 2m distance wearing a mask, who have no access to the internet and encourage them to provide a telephone number to allow us to check on how they are. If you know of any parishioner please let Yvonne know, either via email office.ourladyofpeace@northamptondiocese.org or telephone the office on 01628 605764.

PEACE IN A LENTEN LOCKDOWN

In this Lenten Lockdown resource you will find a number of ideas which can help you through this difficult period, from 5 minute daily prayer, to longer retreat style activities and I would encourage you to explore them in the hope that they help you to find peace and inspiration in our Saviour. This could be a wonderful opportunity to take stock, reflect and to reconnect with Him and bring His light into this darkness.’ To find out more, please visit: https://formationpathways.co.uk
