CANON DAVID OAKLEY TO BE THE THIRTEENTH BISHOP OF NORTHAMPTON The Holy Father has appointed Canon David Oakley, a priest of the Archdiocese of Birmingham and currently rector of St. Mary’s College, Oscott, to be the thirteenth Bishop of Northampton. Cardinal Vincent Nichols will celebrate the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Elect David in Northampton Cathedral at 11.00am on the Solemnity of St Joseph, 19th March 2020.
Bishop Peter Doyle rejoices in this good news. The Bishop has worked closely with Bishop Elect David during his seven years as rector of the seminary at Oscott, and knows him to be a man of faith and prayer, and a pastoral priest and wise teacher. Bishop Peter joins the priests and deacons, and the religious and people of the Diocese of Northampton in giving thanks to God and welcoming Bishop Elect David and praying for him as he prepares for his ordination as Bishop.

ST ANDREW’S 300 CLUB The winners of the draw held last week are as follows: 1st Prize £60: No. 89 Miss P Lawes, 2nd Prize £40: No. 61 Mrs N Sugrue, 3rd Prize £25: No. 14 Mr & Mrs R Godly. The club raised £600 for the Cippenham Shared Church Trust (CSCT) last year, which is wonderful, many thanks to all who subscribe.
However, membership of the club has been dropping during the last year and we were down to 93 subscriptions for the recent draw. This is not enough to maintain the current level of prizes but we have a small reserve of funds, so do not as yet need to reduce the prize money. We need 100 members to break even, so please consider joining, it only costs £12 per year, or you could buy more shares if you are already a member.
It would be even more wonderful if membership soared above 100, with 110 subscriptions we could increase the prize money by £60 per year ie £15 extra in each quarterly draw. There are membership forms in all the church porches or contact Shelagh on 01753 516502.
