Please put them in tied sacks marked ‘Mary’s meals’ and on 13th October bring them with you when you come to Mass where the charity Mary’s Meals will be here to pick them up. Not only will you be getting rid of un-wanted clothes/bedding and giving yourself a little more space but you will also benefit a really worthwhile charity. Mary’s Meals feeds children one good meal every day at school in 18 countries. Because of our low costs we can do this for as little as £13.90 per child per year!
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2020
If your child is in Year 3 or above, and you wish your child to receive their First Holy Communion in June 2020 you will need to enrol them on the First Holy Communion programme. The First Holy Communion classes will begin in February 2020 and will be held at St Andrew’s on Saturday mornings.
The first enrolment date will be on Tuesday, 8th October between 3.30pm and 5.00pm, the second enrolment date will be Tuesday, 15th October between 6.30pm and 7.00pm. They will both be held in the Sacristy at Our Lady of Peace Church. Parents will need to complete an enrolment form which will be available on the enrolment date. The maximum amount of children we can take is 88, if we reach that number by Sunday, 10th November which will be the deadline date for any enrolments, then any latecomers will have to wait until 2021.
If your child was Baptised in another Parish, you will need to bring with you a copy of the child’s Baptism certificate: if you cannot find it, you will need to contact the Parish where your child was Baptised and obtain it before the enrolment meeting.
OCTOBER 2019 : EXTRAORDINARY MONTH OF MISSION Pope Francis calls us to renew our missionary commitment to share the Good News with all peoples, together we pray :
God our Father, when your Son Jesus Christ rose from the dead, he commissioned his followers to ‘go and make disciples of all nations’. Through our Baptism you send us out to continue this mission among all peoples. Empower us by the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be courageous and enthusiastic in bearing witness to the Gospel, so that the mission entrusted to us, which is still far from completion, may bring life and light to the world. May all peoples experience the saving love and generous mercy of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Please be sure to take a copy of MISSION TODAY the quarterly magazine published by MISSIO in support of its RED BOX collection. Missio giving is the help we can all join to further the work of the Association for the Propagation of the Faith, the Mill Hill Fathers and other Pontifical Mission Societies in the spreading of the Gospel in areas of the world deprived of the privilege of regular contact with the Faith and often the very basic physical needs of everyday life. The Magazine will tell you so much more. Sufficient copies have been supplied for every household in the parish with a Special Prayer Card for your convenience as a bookmark or pocket reminder.
