FR SIMON wishes to say a MASSIVE “THANK YOU” for all your gifts, both the Parish retiring collection and gifts received individually, and all your kind wishes and words of encouragement over the last few weeks, he will keep the Parish community in his Prayers.

In line with Data Protection legislation please obtain the consent of the person before entering their name in the book. This book will be placed on the altar during each Mass in Our Lady of Peace Church.
BAPTISM PREPARATION COURSE The next Baptism Preparation course that Deacon Marek will be running begins on Wednesday, 19th September 2018 at 7.00pm and will be held in the Sacristy at Our Lady of Peace. If you wish for your child to be Baptised over the next few months, you will need to attend the course. This is especially important for first time parents. If you have not already advised that you will be attending, please contact Yvonne on 01628 605764.
ADORATION of the Blessed Sacrament prior to the 6.00pm Mass on Saturdays, beginning at 5.15pm. Please respect the Lord and those who would like to pray by maintaining silence in Church prior to Mass.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT every Monday at Our Lady of Peace from 7.00pm to 8.00pm. All welcome to join in Contemplating the Face of Christ through prayer, praise and stillness. There is also Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St Andrew’s every Thursday from 8.30am – 9.30am. All welcome.
YEAR OF PRAYER & VOCATION Your Diocese is celebrating a Year of Prayer and Vocation. Here is the prayer of Richard of Chichester which will be used throughout the Year:
Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits which you have given us. For all the pains and insults which you have borne for us. Most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother, may we know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen.
HELP AFTER SUNDAY 9.45AM MASS Thank you to all who help tidy the Church after the 9.45am Mass each weekend. Please try and spare 15 minutes to help, all that is needed is to collect the Hymn and Parish Mass books and place them back in the bookshelves, and to clear any Bulletins/papers and rubbish lying around.
LENT RISE CARE HOME are looking for volunteers to visit the Care Home when they can, to simply have a chat with residents there. No experience needed. If you are interested please contact Fr Andy.
GO FUND BURNHAM YOUTH CLUB The youth club, which is always in need of funding, is a vital resource for our young people. With your help it will continue to thrive. If you wish to donate please visit www.gofundme.com/raising-for-a-local-youth-club to donate.
WALK WITH ME ‘Eucharistic Reflections’ book available in the Church porches, priced £1 each.
MARY’S MEALS Please bring all your unwanted clothing including bags, towels,
blankets, curtains, shoes and bedding to Church on Saturday, 29th & Sunday
30th September. Put your clothing etc (no bric-a-brac or furniture please) into
sacks marked ‘Mary’s meals’ and bring them to Mass where the charity Mary’s Meals will be here to pick them up. Amazingly, 3 full black sacks of reasonable quality clothing will feed a child one good nutritious meal every school day for a whole year! Mary’s Meals is a low cost charity that sets up school feeding programmes in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.
ST GILBERT’S MISSION Small plastic bottles are available in the Church porches for any loose change you would like to donate to the St Gilbert’s Mission Project. Please return full bottles to either St Gilbert’s or Our Lady of Peace.
MARRIAGE AND RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING WITH MARRIAGE CARE Catholic Marriage Care is a faith-based organisation, that draws on its Catholic tradition and contemporary research, to help couples in both good times and bad. Most relationships face difficulties at some point. Talking to a relationship counsellor can help. Our local centre in Reading offers relationship counselling with fully-trained counsellors. For further information please call 0800 389 3801.
If you are a trained relationship counsellor, could you volunteer with Marriage Care? Further counsellors are needed for our Reading centre – expenses and supervision is provided. For further information, please contact Sue Cooper using this link or telephone 0793 9495774.

If you have taken one of the Parish Mass books home by accident, please could you return it as soon as possible.
CAR PARKING Please when using the car park at the rear of Our Lady of Peace Church please keep the middle lane clear, this provides access for an emergency vehicle if necessary. Also we ask that you take care not to block pavements or the corner of the road leading into St Michael’s Court. It is very difficult for residents of St Michael’s Court to access Lower Britwell Road when cars are parked on the corner obstructing the view onto the road. 🚗
DIOCESAN DIRECTORY Copies available in the Church porches, now priced £2.00.
USED STAMPS FOR THE MISSIONS Please save your stamps and put in the boxes available in the Church porches. Over the years used stamps have been collected at Slough and have been sold on to raise funds for work undertaken in schools, hospitals and Parishes by Sisters, Brothers, Lay People and Priests in the developing world. The used stamps are sold on to Dealers and Collectors, and the proceeds used to assist in funding Church projects abroad. This can be done here in this Parish by as many people as possible depositing as many stamps as is possible in the Stamps for the Missions box in the Church porch.
