MARGARET JOHNSON’S FUNERAL We have received the following message from Reg and Frances Johnson. “My father and I would like to thank everyone who attended the funeral. Having so many friends and family there meant a great deal to us. I have thanked many people for their donations to Thames Hospice in my mother’s memory but a lot of people left cash at the Church or gave on line and I do not have the names of the donors. We are very grateful for all your gifts. The Hospice have told me that they have received a total of £1,127 in mum’s memory which is a terrific amount and would have delighted her. So, thank you all very much”.
CAFOD We received the following message from CAFOD. “Thank you for your support to our Lent Fast Day appeal. Donations to CAFOD until 12th May will be doubled by the UK Government. We have planned a £5 million programme to combat malnutrition – and with it we hope to be able to reach 245,000 people. But we need the full amount of match funding to make it happen. You can help us reach the full amount needed for this crucial programme. We still have some way to go yet! To donate please go to cafod.org.uk/lent or call 0303 303 3030”.
SPUC PETITION There is currently a petition asking the Prime Minister not to de-criminalise abortion. Such a move would strip from unborn children any effective legal protection from abortion, and keeping abortion within the law offers some safeguards for mothers and their unborn babies. Decriminalising abortion would mean vulnerable pregnant women buying online abortion pills and taking them with no medical supervision and abortion up to birth for any reason. Please sign the petition at the back of church or online at www.spuc.org.uk

OLIVE WOOD CARVINGS FROM THE HOLY LAND (BETHLEHEM): On sale this weekend:
“We are the Good Shepherd Company from the Holy Land (Bethlehem) which is based in Nottingham, we work alongside the St Vincent De Paul Society for orphans and elderly in the Holy Land. Our goal is to support and help the Christian families in the Holy Land to stay at work, as olive wood carvings is one of the most important source of income for them, as 90% of the Christians rely on this sale. So by selling their produce here from the olive wood (rosaries, crosses, cribs and religious statues) in their behalf, this will prevent the Christians having to leave the country in search of better work opportunities, as a test survey from the Bishops of Jerusalem; there is only forty one thousand Christians left in the area”. Please support their work.

This can be done here in this Parish by as many people as possible depositing as many stamps as is possible in the Stamps for the Missions box in the Church porch.
