NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION: MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH CAFOD Try something that is calorie-free and not injurious to your health but can be life giving and joyful. We really need people to go into our Catholic schools to inspire students to act on their sense of justice. You don’t have to be a teacher to do this role, only a passion for CAFOD’s work and an ability to communicate well with children and young people. All necessary training, travel expenses and resources will be provided. Please get in touch with Northampton CAFOD by using this link or 01844 274 723.
SLEEPOUT FOR THE WINTER NIGHT SHELTER (REPORT) Well – it’s over and done with for another year and what a cold night! The atmosphere was excellent and everyone was in great form. We were so glad to head back to our warm beds the following morning. While sleeping outside with not much more than cardboard for shelter, was a tough challenge for one night, it was but a mere taster of what homeless people on our streets have to endure – night after night.
It’s difficult to put into words just how grateful we are to you and to everyone who played a part in this event. 94 people participated on the night which is twice the number compared to last year and the best news of all is that we have hit our target for the funds needed to run the Winter Night Shelter once again this winter! The Winter Night Shelter is going from strength to strength. Last year almost 50 people were accommodated across the period, 20 of these went on to find permanent accommodation and 11 found employment.
The importance of providing that safe, warm place across the darkest coldest months cannot be stressed enough as we can see that it is helping many to move out of the downward spiral they are in and to regain their lives. Thank you so much for your help – we simply could not have achieved so much without you!

CAR PARKING Please when parking at Our Lady of Peace we ask that you take care not to block pavements or the corner of the road leading into St Michael’s Court. It is very difficult for residents of St Michael’s Court to access Lower Britwell Road when cars are parked on the corner obstructing the view onto the road. When using the car park please drive in as far as you can to allow us to use all the available spaces. 🚗
USED STAMPS FOR THE MISSIONS
Please save your stamps and put in the boxes available in the Church porches. Over the years used stamps have been collected at Slough and have been sold on to raise funds for work undertaken in schools, hospitals and Parishes by Sisters, Brothers, Lay People and Priests in the developing world. The used stamps are sold on to Dealers and Collectors, and the proceeds used to assist in funding Church projects. This can be done here in this Parish by as many people as possible depositing as many stamps as is possible in the Stamps for the Missions box at the back of Church. Please make a real effort to bring your used stamps to Church and help in this simple way to support the Church’s work abroad.
ST GILBERT’S MISSION Small plastic bottles are available in the Church porches for any loose change you would like to donate to the St Gilbert’s Mission Project. Please return full bottles to either St Gilbert’s or Our Lady of Peace.

LUX.BE
Are you ready for Lux.Be? This amazing weekend is February 2nd – 4th 2018.
As we build to the SYNOD in Rome in October 2018 with the theme of ‘Youth, Faith and Vocation’, at NYMO we have decided to begin this journey at the LUX weekend on 2nd-4th February 2018.
Are you confused about what God has planned for your life? Do you want to trust Him but are unsure of how to do that? Are you aged 11-18years of age? If so, read on…
LUX. be will focus on resting with God. When a child falls asleep on their mother or father they do so because they know them, trust them and are comfortable with them. This is the same with God. When we know God and trust Him, we can rest in Him.
When Jesus died on the cross He said “Into your hands Lord, I commend my spirit”. Can we say the same thing? Do we know God well enough to trust Him with our life? Do we trust Him enough to fall asleep on Him?
We will be joined by incredible people who know Him and have trusted Him. They will guide us through the weekend to lead us deeper into the person of God.
Join us for this incredible experience of fun and faith. Meet the team, new friends and journey into a deeper relationship with God, our Father.
- Where: Kings Park Conference Centre, Northampton NN3 6LL
- When: 2nd – 4th February 2018
- Cost: £95 (bursary places available)
- What to do next: Download the booking form (pdf) and send it to:
NYMO, 33 Westbourne Road, Luton, LU4 8JD - Or email Fiona at NYMO using this link or call 01582 720627
