REV’D MICHAEL WESTNEY, a popular past Anglican Vicar at St Andrew’s Shared Church, died recently, his Funeral will be in St Peter’s Church, Burnham, on Friday, 30th June at 11.45am.
DECEASED Please pray for Joseph Shortall RIP, his Requiem Mass will be held in Our Lady of Peace on Tuesday, 20th June at 1.00pm, followed by committal at Slough Crematorium. Also please pray for Joe Carvill who died recently, Joe was Headteacher at St Joseph’s Catholic High School for 14 years, his funeral will be on Wednesday, 21st June at 1.00pm in Holy Family Church, Spinney Oak, Ongar Hill, Addlestone, Surrey, KT15 1BP.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
DAY FOR LIFE This weekend there will be a retiring collection for Day for Life. Each year Day for Life provides an opportunity to reflect on the dignity of every human person, both young and old, and to pray for and support all life from conception to natural death. This year’s Day for Life provides us with an opportunity to reflect, to pray and to offer practical and emotional support, especially for those who have lost a child and for those women who are anxious about their pregnancy. There are cards available in the Church porches.

GIFT AID OFFERTORY ENVELOPES If you are a UK taxpayer, you could add 25p to every £1 that you give to your Parish (at no cost to yourself) through Gift Aid, this is a great help to Parish finances. At the start of a new liturgical year, beginning with the first Sunday of Advent, there are books for purchase to help Readers with their understanding of the Gospels: Robin Cooper’s The Word of God, Year A Matthew’s Gospel. OUR LADY OF PEACE CHURCH ‘DEFECTS LOG’ BOOK There is a ‘defects log’ book on the bookcase in Our Lady of Peace Church. If you find any defects which need to be investigated in the Church please make a note in the book.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT every Monday at Our Lady of Peace from 7.00pm to 8.00pm. All welcome to join in Contemplating the Face of Christ through prayer, praise and stillness. There is also Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St Andrew’s every Thursday from 8.30am – 9.30am. All welcome.
ROSARY The Rosary will be said after the 9.30am Mass at St Andrew’s each Thursday.
MASS OFFERING FORMS are available in the Church porches which you can complete for any Mass intentions you wish to have offered. Please return the form, with your offering, in an envelope and hand to Fr Andy or Yvonne, or leave in the Sacristy or Presbytery.
PARISH MASS BOOKS We are now using Volume 1 of the Mass books for Year A (yellow cover). As with Year B and Year C, books if you would like to donate £1.95 for one of these books, or £7.95 for the large print books, please feel free to do so, and we will enter into the book a dedication for your intention. Just put into an envelope the offering and the name(s) you wish inscribed in the book(s) and hand to Yvonne at the Sacristy or Presbytery: for a deceased person please add ‘RIP’ to the name or names; for someone alive, please add ‘Intention’.
CAR PARKING Please when parking at Our Lady of Peace we ask that you take care not to block pavements or the corner of the road leading into St Michael’s Court. It is very difficult for residents of St Michael’s Court to access Lower Britwell Road when cars are parked on the corner obstructing the view onto the road. When using the car park please drive in as far as you can to allow us to use all the available spaces.

Upcoming Events
PARISH RETREAT This year we are holding the retreat at the Sion Community in Brentwood. It will be a residential weekend running from the afternoon/evening of 29th September 2017 and finishing on Sunday, 1st October. We will be able to cater for individuals, couples and families. We would like to get some idea of the numbers interested in attending. The retreat will be led by Fr Simon and transport can be laid on for those who might need it. HANDICAPPED CHILDREN PILGRIMAGE TRUST (HCPT) A Dance in aid of the Children’s HCPT Groups Easter Pilgrimage to Lourdes, will be held on Saturday, 24th June 2017 at Slough Irish Club. Dancing from 9.00pm until midnight. Music by Tony Kearney. Tickets £5 each will be on sale after most Masses from weekend of 10th – 11th June. BIBLE TIMELINE – THE GREAT ADVENTURE This is a comprehensive course looking at the story of Salvation. It will run for 24 weeks (but not during school holidays). This course will help you to understand Gods’ plan for mankind and teach you how to read and understand the Bible.
It will also help you to understand the Liturgy of the Word during Mass and encourage you to read your Bible more regularly. We are hoping to start this course after the school summer break.
